We have great news to share about the latest developments on the DOL’s website (EFAST2) for downloading e-filed 5500s:
- The DOL’s EFAST2 system has changed how the 5500s are listed in its queue. In the past, all e-filed reports would be posted, and if a report was amended, the old version and the amended version would both be found. But now, starting on March 28th, only the amended/latest filing version will be posted.
Here is an example from the DOL:
- If “Widget Plan” filed a 2020 plan year filing, a 2021 plan year filing, and an amended 2021 plan year filing, then the search results would now just show two filings: the 2020 plan year filing and the amended 2021 plan year filing.
- When Wrangle is asked for copies of the e-filed 5500, we encourage you to use the DOL’s EFAST2 system. If you ever need extra direction or help, the system has a great reference page/tutorial to walk you through the steps. Click here for more information.
- If the e-filed 5500 has an attachment, the attachment(s) may not be immediately available for review. The DOL will assess first to make sure the attachment(s) does not have personally identifiable information (like social security numbers). If the attachments are not approved, also effective on March 28th, the following will be noted in a placeholder: “attachments unavailable.”
