The IRS publishes disaster-related filing relief and special extension deadlines on its website throughout the year. Because these deadlines vary by event and location, it is important to identify affected clients as early as possible.
The number of special deadline extensions has increased significantly for the 2026 and 2027 filing seasons, and we want to ensure you are aware of these opportunities for relief.
When available, a special extension may extend both the Form 5500 filing deadline and the Summary Annual Report (SAR) distribution deadline, providing additional time to meet these compliance requirements.
If any of your clients are eligible for filing relief, please notify your Wrangle team.
